From March to April 2025, National Neurodiversity Training delivered a tailored training programme to the Growth Leadership Academy, a leadership development initiative supporting future managers and decision-makers.
This module built on the earlier programme “Growth Leadership Academy: Creating Neuro-Inclusive Leaders of Tomorrow”, where participants developed foundational knowledge of neurodiversity, inclusive leadership, and workplace adjustments.
As the final key module in the series, this session gave learners the opportunity to take the next step. They applied their learning in greater depth and explored how to support neurodivergent team members with more confidence and clarity.
The programme was developed and delivered by neurodivergent professionals at National Neurodiversity Training, ensuring participants benefited from the organisation’s lived-experience approach, combining first-hand expertise with research-based strategy to build practical understanding and promote lasting behavioural change.
Ongoing learning and long-term reinforcement are critical for building inclusive leadership habits. Staying up to date with inclusive practices helps managers strengthen their understanding of neurodiversity, adapt to new insights, and create thriving conditions for neurodivergent employees. This in turn supports better team performance and business outcomes. Companies that build neuroinclusive cultures report 28% higher revenues, double the net income, and 30% higher profit margins (Santora, 2024).
Leaders across sectors are increasingly aware of the need to support neurodivergent team members, but awareness does not always lead to action. According to research highlighted in the training:
• 15% of the population is neurodivergent
• 54% of managers don’t feel equipped to support neurodivergent individuals
• 50% of neurodivergent employees are considering leaving their employer
• Neuro-inclusive teams can be up to 30% more productive than neurotypical teams
Despite these statistics, many organisations lack the tools and confidence to recognise neurodivergent strengths or provide effective adjustments. These challenges prevent organisations from recruiting, retaining, and supporting diverse talent.
We began with a Neurodiversity Maturity Diagnostic, a unique tool designed to assess the understanding and knowledge of neurodiversity of learners. This was followed by analysis and a comprehensive report highlighting areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
The training for the Growth Leadership Academy included:
• Introduction to Neurodiversity
• Workplace Adjustments
• Strengths and Challenges
• Maximising Neurodivergent Talent
• Minimising Neurodivergent Barriers
Through scenario-based learning and guided reflection, managers explored both theoretical concepts and lived-experience insight. Reflective, scenario-based activities encouraged managers to move beyond standard goal-setting and consider more individualised, inclusive approaches to supporting neurodivergent team members. These exercises helped participants apply learning in context and identify practical steps they could take within their own teams.
Managers built a stronger foundation in key concepts.
• One month after the March session, participants retained 65% of their knowledge and understanding
• After the review session, knowledge improved by a further 10.5%, showing the value of returning to key ideas over time
Participants felt better prepared to support neurodivergent team members.
• 22% improvement in recognising neurodivergent strengths
• 37% increase in supporting team members to develop those strengths
• 40% increase in reframing challenges as strengths
These outcomes reflect lasting changes in awareness and approach
• Revisiting key content builds confidence and reinforces inclusive practice
• Strengths-based leadership improves inclusion and team performance
• Structured, activity-led training supports real-world change
• Lived-experience delivery increases relatability and depth
• Ongoing impact is strengthened by follow-up and reflection
